We’ve been taught that January is for resolutions, acceleration, and reinvention.
New goals. New habits. New energy. GO!
But what if we’ve misunderstood the rhythm entirely? In the natural world and in the female body// there is a cycle. And every cycle begins not with activation, but with release.
If we imagined the year as a living organism, January wouldn’t be the launch phase.
It would be the menstrual phase.
A time of:
• Shedding what no longer serves
• Detoxing from the excess of the prior cycle
• Turning inward for clarity
• Restoring the nervous system
• Listening before deciding
As we all intuitively know, seeds don’t sprout in frozen ground. Nature knows to wait.
January invites us to close loops, not open ten new ones.
To grieve what didn’t work.
To tell the truth about what exhausted us.
To clear space (physically, emotionally, neurologically) so that when momentum returns, it’s clean, coherent, and sustainable.
Activation comes later.
Clarity comes first.
Perhaps the most powerful thing you can do this month is nothing performative at all and instead ask:
What am I ready to release?
What am I complete with?
What needs rest before it can grow?
Rest and allow January to honor your truth alongside you.
