I was raised in a small town in Vermont.
Summers were spent on a gravel track with no stadium lights, no grandstands. Just heat rising off the earth, the rhythm of breath, and the quiet discipline of showing up again and again. We didn’t call it optimization in the 90's.
Years later, that same rhythm carried me to compete as a NCAA Division I Track and Field athlete in the American East Conference. But what I came to understand on that gravel track and later at the highest level of collegiate sport was something far deeper:
Athletics are not separate from life. They are life.
Sport is how we learn struggle. They are how we meet ourselves.
They are how we discover what we are capable of becoming.
The body Is not a machine...It Is an Intelligence
For too long, we have treated the body like something to fix, push, or override.
But the human body is not a machine to be dominated. It is a living intelligence to be understood.
At Birdsong, we see the body as the most advanced technology on earth—one that does not need to be forced into performance, but rather placed in the right environment to remember it.
This is where Body by Birdsong begins.
Until next time friends,
